WiiWare is the recently announced way for developers, both large and small, to create new content purchasable from the Wii Shop Channel. It is being touted as a way for independent developers to create games with a minimum of overhead costs. WiiWare content was released in North America on May 12, 2008.

Once downloaded, WiiWare is stored as a Wii Channel. WiiWare games have a maximum of 43 megabyte size, and currently range in price from 500 Wii Points to 1,500. TPE.
