WiiConnect24 is a Wii service that provided online functionality for channels. It was released in 2006 and discontinued in 2013. Around 2016, homebrew project group RiiConnect24 remade this service (now under WiiLink).
Summary[]
At E3 in 2006, Nintendo unveiled WiiConnect24 and called it "the system that never sleeps" due to it always being online with Standby. Standby Mode being on would provide data for weather, news, and messages and gifts on Wii Mail. WiiConnect24 can be turned on or off via the Wii Settings. When content is received, the disc drive will have a neon-blue glow with changeable brightness.
