Sega is an international Japanese video game software developer, and a former home computer and console manufacturer. Sega was founded in 1940 as Standard Games in Honolulu, Hawaii. Sega started off creating arcade games before moving onto consoles in 1983. Later it was suggested to move the company to Tokyo, Japan under the name SErvice GAmes.


The Sega Mega Drive (Genesis in NA) was Sega's first really successful home console. In 1991 Sega gave itself a mascot to hopefully beat Mario, Sonic was his name. Later Sega released the Sega Saturn and the Sega Dreamcast.
