Roulette Blocks are items and blocks found in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Mario Party 9. They are yellow blocks with four holes: one at each corner. These blocks have items that constantly spin in a roulette. In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Roulette Blocks are rare. The items they can contain include Super Mushrooms, 1-Up Mushrooms, Starmans, Propeller Mushrooms and Penguin Suits. If Mario (or Luigi, Blue Toad, or Yellow Toad) hit a Roulette Block from underneath them, it stops spinning and whatever item is shown on it will come out. The player can then obtain the item by simply running into it. The only downfall, however, is that the items will slowly move away from the player (with the Super Mushrooms and 1-Up Mushrooms swiftly moving along the ground, and Propeller Mushrooms slowly gliding away like they normally do). In Mario Party 9, Roulette Blocks only appear in the minigame, Sock It to Lakitu. The items spinning in its roulette include a Bullet Bill, two Bullet Bills, three Bullet Bills and a Spiny Egg. The Bullet Bills will damage Lakitu, while the Spiny Egg may damage the player.
